thanks for your comment. I will do my best to answer your question...I'd call this pattern a shuffle, except with more of a New Orleans 2nd line drum feel to it. the key to the New Orleans 2nd line feel is that the notes are somewhere in-between being played in a very straight-forward feel and a very swung (or swing) feel. in other words, sometimes the notes being played will feel/sound straight and other times feel/swung, the drum beat dances around the actual tempo of the song and does not always land exactly in the space where it's supposed to be. it's definitely hard to explain, but it's a groove thing that one can always work on. hope this helps. best wishes.
